When the world closed down due to the Covid pandemic, I guess we all realised how much we need other people. And as concerts were cancelled, I gathered some of my fellow jazz musicians in Øra studio in Trondheim, and recorded some of the finest love songs from the great American song book. Playing these tunes is like paying a visit to an old flame, finding that the spark and the magic is still right there, in the melodies and harmonies and the playful phrasing and timing of jazz. I have loved these songs for so many years, now is the time for me to sing them, in the great company of Daniel Formo on the piano, Bjørn Marius Hegge on the bass and Håkon Mjåset Johansen on the drums. Mona Krogstad, Klaus Ellerhusen Holm and Marthe Belsvik Stavrum are contributing on saxophones, clarinet and flute. The album will be released at Particular Recordings Collective on Valentinesday 2022.
